If the visa is refused, annulled or revoked, applicants have the right to appeal.
· Appeals (written in Hungarian or English and signed by the applicant) can be submitted in person either by the applicant or by the person who has a power of attorney from the applicant at the competent Hungarian Consulate (that refused the visa application) 8 days within the date of receiving the decision on refusal and 3 days within the date of receiving the decision on the annulment or revocation of a visa.
· Appeals may only be submitted upon payment of the appeal fee to the consulate at the time of submission.
· The appeal fee is €160 and must be paid even by those who submitted their application free of charge in the first instance. The fee cannot be reduced or waived.
· Appeals are reviewed by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
· The appeal review period is 15 calendar days from the date of submission and cannot be shortened for any reason; requests to this effect cannot be submitted.
· During the appeal procedure, the appeal authority may request additional supporting documents, and the applicant (especially a person who did not have a personal interview at the first instance) may also be called to the consulate for a personal interview.
· There is a possibility of judicial review of the refusal of the appeal.
· In case of refusal, a new application may be submitted, provided that the consular fee for the visa is paid again.
